Το δευτερο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου του Πουκέτ θα διεξαχθεί από τις 4 Ιούνη μέχρι τις 13 Ιούν του τρέχοντος έτους μετά την ακυρωση που εγινε το προηγούμενο έτος, λόγω ανησυχιών για την ασφάλεια που προκύπτουν από τη σύνοδο κορυφής του ASEAN που λαμβάνε χώρα στο νησί.
Φετος το φεστιβάλ κινηματογράφου θα οργανωθεί από τον Scott Rosenberg, διευθύνων σύμβουλο της AMW International, ο οποίος έχει πολλά φεστιβάλ κινηματογράφου της Ταϊλάνδης κάτω από την επιβλεψη του, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του The Greater Mekong Sub-region Film Festival (GMS).
Το πρώτο Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου του Phuket έλαβε χώρα το 2007 και ετυχε μιςα ζεστής υποδοχής σε διεθνές επίπεδο.
Εμφανιστηκαν πάνω από 40 ταινίες από 15 χώρες με 13 ξένους κινηματογραφιστές , το φεστιβάλ ειχε επιτυχια στην προσέλευση με μόλις πάνω από 3.600 εισιτήρια για τις ταινίες.
Με το ένα φεστιβάλ στο ενεργητικό τους, οι διοργανωτές αποφάσισαν να αναβαλουν το 2008 για να επικεντρωθουν στο φεστιβάλ του 2009, το οποίο δυστυχώς ακυρώθηκε.
Ελπιζουν να είναι ένα μεγάλο έτος για το Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Phuket το οποίο ελπίζει να γίνει ένα ετήσιο γεγονός.
Περίπου 30 ταινίες μεγάλου μήκους, ταινίες μικρού μήκους και ντοκιμαντέρ θα προβληθούν φέτος με τις περισσότερες ταινίες είναι στη μητρική τους γλώσσα με αγγλικούς υπότιτλους.
Αρκετές ταινίες θα είναι υπο-τίτλισμενες στην ταϊλανδέζικη αλλά θα πρέπει να τσεκαρετε , για να μάθετε ποιες είναι.
